Hard Day of the Dead

In L.A., the weather being what it is and the entertainment industry pulling in good-looking people from around the world, there’s a lot of skin shown around town. So one generally wouldn’t think twice about seeing a girl in fox ears and not much else. But as I was walking back to my car and the number of the young and pretty increased, it was evident something was going on.

I asked a girl as I waited at a crosswalk. It was an EDM (electronic dance music) festival, Hard Day of the Dead. I didn’t have tickets but had fun meeting people around the festival. Including a scalper, a parking attendant, a few LAPD, local citizens, street team promoters, and of course, attendees. Mostly very very friendly.

I think if you’re into that sort of thing, it’s good to experience it while you can.

I have a dress that looks pretty similar to this. I tend to stop people who wear things I might wear.

Spotted her coming out of a cab. Thought the bone ink on her thighs looked cool.

My combat boots and mini skirt probably helped me blend in.

Pyrotechnics and LAPD patrolling the festival. Downtown was teeming with cops.

Fashion. Burberry booties.

Burberry ankle boots. Black leather. Lace-up oxfords. Stiletto heels. These were the real deal.

Loved these. A half size too small. Also, not getting very much work, so it’s mostly camera shopping for me.

Generally think ankle boots are hard to pull off. Can show off nice ankles, unforgiving otherwise. If you’re tall doesn’t matter so much, but on a shorter girl, like me, it can make you look shorter. I wore skinny straight leg jeans in the other photo which I thought looked okay. Not a fan of “jeggings” with ankle boots. (“Jeggings” make me angry for some reason, kind of a pimple on the face of fashion.) Definitely not for flared jeans. Would work with long skirts, just nothing that hits mid-calf please, unless it’s bias cut. Mini skirts with stockings. Shorts.

Not that you have to go with anything I say here. Just my two cents.

Black leather and pony hair shoes. Lace-up point toe platform oxford. High-heeled stiletto ankle boots. Bore a Gucci logo, but I suspect they were very good knockoffs. I didn’t get them. Even used and fake, they were too much for me. Yeah, I crammed my feet into them with my cotton socks on, in a hurry, but they fit quite well and it was comfortable with socks on. Those are the Jacks kicked to the side that I wore in. I’m just going to label these kinds of posts under “fashion.”

Going for a vintage 50’s fashion photography look.

Ah, I don’t like aspects or circumstances of my life, so sometimes it sounds like I’m completely down on myself. But I wouldn’t say completely. I think my legs have always served me well. I used to be a pretty formidable runner, sprinting and long distance. And they held up for fencing and all kinds of dance classes.

Poor feet. They’re the ones that have to carry the weight.

Goodnight. A job tomorrow.

Sketch. Love in gray.

Ran into a bunch of people at the paperback show. I like it because it’s small. It’s about the stuff still. The only booth babes were on the page. And no babies, either (so I could swear, though I don’t so much anymore, with impunity). Sometimes it’s nice to just talk with people who are into similar things. Not worry about being pretty or charming or anything like that.

A lot of acquaintances being very supportive. In a genuine way. One friend, who I really only met once, said I should send my stuff over to the Lucas people and he’d put in a good word or something to that effect. More than most would offer. I mentioned I was working on one of their new video games. But it would be nice to get something more substantial or steady. In general.

As for the image. I rarely post sketches. But this is doubly unusual.

Did you find the secret?

You can see it, or rather hear it, if you know the right place to look, meaning it’s not something that needs special software to open. I had a sudden image of some poor soul messing with the drawing in photoshop. That’s not the secret.

Well, it’s not that big a deal, so don’t think too much about it. I was just thinking, I haven’t posted any clips of my voice in a while. I forget, because I audition fairly regularly and figure someone’s hearing my voice, that it can take years for a project to come out and some who come here probably have no idea what I sound actually like. It’s off my laptop mic and not eq’d and only seconds long, so. . . ha! I’m not selling this very well! If you found it, there you go.

Auditions at the agency tomorrow.
